Weekend away
We've just returned from a family weekend away to 'the big smoke'. And as much as I loved being away doing fun stuff, I'm SO glad to be home! I always underestimate the amount of 'stuff' needed for a few nights away and invariably forget something. This time it was my hair brush & comb. Nothing too drastic, but by day 3 my hair was a bit birds-nest-ish. There's only so much hand combing can do. Okay, so I was desperate and resorted to using my toothbrush on my fringe. For those of you that might not know me, I have very fine hair so a toothbrush is probably all I need most of the time anyway. Well, it did the trick. I put my hair into a pony tail, brushed my fringe and voila! You can only imagine my disappointment at finding my hairbrush and comb packed safely in my suitcase on the morning we were due to come home.... I KNEW I packed it somewhere and of course it was in the ONLY pocket I didn't check. Don't you hate that.

A new trick!
I took this video of Miss M (almost 9 months old) recently and thought it was too cute not to share! She's always pulling funny faces, making weird noises and generally making me (& the boys) laugh.
Simple pleasures
I think I must have done something right in a past life to be given such a fantastic husband and gorgeous children in this one. My hard working hubby has taken our 2 boys to swimming lessons whilst I stay home in the warmth and comfort of our home. No wrestling with the 2 boys to get them into the shower, KEEP them in the shower and then get them dried and dressed afterwards for me! No, I'm here looking after our daughter (ok, so she's asleep) and enjoying some quiet time. Though the cyclones will be back any minute... bless them.

Music
I'm sitting here, playing on my laptop and half watching/listening to Idol. I'm not a huge fan, but I'm enjoying listening to the songs, and it's making me think. I wonder what was the point that I stopped playing music (CD's) around the house? It seems like forever ago that I put on a CD and had a good sing-a-long. Music makes me feel good, so why don't I listen to it more!?
I can probably answer my own question with one word..... KIDS. When we had our first baby, I played music still, but more softly (obviously), and not quite as often. I was still trying to work out the motherhood thing, so music took a back seat. When we had our second baby, well, I think the stereo went into semi-retirement. Only when we had guests did I drag out the old fav's and crank up the tunes. Now that we've had our third child, I can only say that I am embarrassed about my lack of CD-playing. It just doesn't rate as a 'must do' thing in my day, and my day is comprised of a list of must-do's of varying importance.
Soooo, my aim over the next few months is to play more music around the house... and to SING LOUDLY (sorry kids/neighbours/husband)

New Beginnings
So, this is my 1st attempt at writing my own blog, and I'm very excited! It makes me feel strangely liberated and free, and kind of 'in touch' with the IT generation. Now I just have to add it to my weekly 'things to do' list, along with cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc etc etc. Thankfully I have a very supportive hubby who will (unknowingly) allow me blog-writing time by tending to the children and other important duties!
